Berkshire County: Audubon sets Christmas Bird Count

Posted

North Berkshire and Central Berkshire will participate in the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Participants go out into a variety of habitats to count each bird and species they see. The data collected is used to assess the health of bird populations and to help guide conservation action.

All ages are welcome to join in the counts.

To participate in the Central Berkshire count, contact count leaders Holly Higinbotham and Bob Wood at 413-684-3724 or higinbo@hotmail.com.

In North Berkshire, contact Leslie Reed-Evans at 413-458-5150 or lre@wrlf.org.

The North Berkshire count will be followed by the traditional "count-up" pot luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Sheep Hill, the headquarters of the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation.
