Berkshire County: Choral concerts to benefit county food pantries

Berkshire Lyric will be presenting the chamber choir Ubi Caritas in a series of choral concerts to raise money for Berkshire County food pantries on Sunday, Aug. 3.

The three concerts will take place over the course of the same afternoon starting at 1 p.m. at First Congregational in Williamstown, followed by a 3 p.m. concert at First Baptist Church in Pittsfield and ending with a 5 p.m. concert at First Congregational Church in Stockbridge.

There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken to directly benefit food pantries in North Adams, Pittsfield and Great Barrington that are supported by the three congregations.

Ubi Caritas is a select a cappella chorus of 25 Berkshire County singers ages 16-26. The program of a cappella sacred masterpieces includes music by Durufle, Philip Stopford, Bob Chilcott, spirituals by Moses Hogan, hymn arrangements, and gospel music.

This is the third summer that this chorus has collaborated with Berkshire County churches to raise funds and awareness for local missions.
