Hoosac Valley

Coach: John Duval, second year

Returnees: Blake Gaylord, Sr. M; Cody LaBrie, Sr. At; Tom Galisa, Sr., D.

Newcomers: Stephin Wallace, Jr., At; Chase LaBrie, So., At.

Things you need to know:

n Duval has a veteran squad, with nine seniors.

n The Hurricanes are a co-op team with Drury. A total of six players -- up from one last year -- made the team this year.

n The Hurricanes hope to compete for a Western Mass. berth, Duval said. Lee

Coach: Mike Snyder, first year

Key players: Jake Brunnell, Soph., D; Colin Abderhalden, Sr., D; Tom Toomey, Sr., M; Kurt Warner, Sr., M; Cam Abderhalden, Fr., At.

Things you need to know:

n Snyder was not with the program last year, so he preferred to name his key players, rather than key newcomers and returnees.

n The coach said he was impressed with his team's work ethic.

n Snyder said the Wildcats will be in a rebuilding mode this year.

Mount Greylock

Coach: Jeff Stripp, second year

Returnees: Mike McCormack, Sr., At; Brett McCormack, Sr., At; Ethan Ryan, Sr., M; Hank Barrett, Sr., M; Daivon Clement, Jr., D.

Newcomers: Cole Hughes, Sr., At; Cole Jackson, Jr., M.

Things you need to know:

n Stripp has a strong nucleus of players returning, including the dangerous McCormack brothers, Mike and Brett.

n The Mounties are a flexible team, with plenty of versatility up and down the lineup, said Stripp.

n This year, Stripp believes his team will be successful within the county and beyond.


Coach: Scott Aitken, second year

Returnees: Mark Amuso, Sr., M; Allen Chague, Sr., At; Zach Rahilly, Sr., G; AlexTeichert, Jr., At.

Newcomers: Cody Ramsey, Sr., D; Ludwig Jean-Louis, Sr. D.

Things you need to know:

n Zach Rahilly, one of the county's best goalies, returns for the Generals.

n Aitken believes the Generals have an experienced team this year.

n Pittsfield will once again be competitive in the county.

St. Joseph

Coach: Ben Kline, second year

Returnees: Josh Kelly, Sr., D; Sam Thomasson, Jr., At; Brendan Faas, Soph., At.

Newcomers: Codey O'Neil, Sr., M.

Things you need to know:

n The Crusaders finished a game under .500 last year, and Kline believes his club can make that next step up into the tournament.

n The Crusaders had a decent turnout, with 19 candidates for the team.

n St. Joseph has a good mix of veterans and younger players.

Monument Mountain

Coach: Rob Neary, first year

Newcomers: Julian Michaels, Jr., MF-D; Mike Basile, Soph., M; Sam Capeless Fr., D.

Things you need to know:

n Neary was a longtime coach of CYC lacrosse teams and also was head coach at Darrow School before being hired at Monument.

n The Spartans are very, very young, with 15 freshmen on the 21-man roster in the program's first season.

n Neary is impressed with his team's work ethic and enthusiasm.


Coach: Bill O'Brien-Garvey, second year

Returnees: Matt Duane, Sr., At; Paul Green, Sr., At; Sean Lannigan, Sr., D; Dylan Moody, Jr., M.

Newcomers: Kevyn Harris, Fr., M.

Things you need to know:

n The Braves had 40 boys out for the team, a good sign, said O'Brien-Garvey.

n Duane and Green will be a solid one-two punch on offense.

n O'Brien-Garvey believes the Braves "will be much better this year" than last, and is excited about the season.


Coach: Paul Lange, second year.

Returnees: Matt Brzostek, Sr., D; Curran Doyle, Jr., D; Chris Girard, Sr., M; John Wagner, Sr., M.

Newcomers: Quinn Caesar, Soph., M; Matt Salvatore, Fr., M.

Things you need to know:

n The Warriors had a very good turnout, with 40 candidates this spring.

n Wahconah has a veteran nucleus of defenders and midfielders.

n Lange hopes his team will compete for a Western Mass. berth.
