HOOSICK, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say three people have been injured in a three-vehicle crash that has closed a stretch of an eastern New York road.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Routes 7 and 22 in the town of Hoosick, on the Vermont border 30 miles northeast of Albany.

Deputies say a car, a tractor-trailer and a van were involved. Police say a newspaper delivery van driven by Fred Stace of Hancock, Mass., crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an 18-wheel flat-bed truck. Stace is in critical condition at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Two other people were also taken to hospitals.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The section of Route 7 closed by the accident is expected to reopen early Thursday afternoon.
