Berkshire County: Native American film screenings, events planned

Healing Winds is hosting a series of interfaith film screenings and dialogues prior to this weekend's ninth annual Rock, Rattle and Drum Pow Wow.

Screenings of "The Peyote Road" will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Guthrie Center, Housatonic; 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at First Congregational Church, Williamstown; at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Lenox Community Center.

An interfaith panel discussion and a Native American church devotional song and drumming program with Dine/Navajo artists Clayton and Adrian Yazzie and Gary Begay Jr. will follow the screenings.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

A Navajo Emerging Artists reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Galerie Reynard, 16 Water St., Williamstown.

Morning and afternoon workshops with the Navajo artists will take place Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Lenox Community Center. Call (413) 637-5530 for registration information.

A Navajo style mutton stew and fry bread supper will precede the Thursday and Friday screenings at 6 p.m.
