Berkshire County soccer roundup: Lee girls hold off New Lebanon at home

LEE — The Lee girls soccer team defended its home field with a 3-2 win over New Lebanon, N.Y. on Tuesday.

Lee scored all three of its goals in the first half, with a pair of Shannon Finnegan goals sandwiching a strike from Karli Retzel. Ann Macchi had two assists.

Brianna Hawley made five saves for Lee (5-7).

"Much better offensively this game," Lee coach Lauren Finnegan said in an email, "creating many scoring opportunities, just not capitalizing on all of them."

ADAMS >> Hoosac Valley shut out its northern rival on Tuesday night at Renfrew Field.

The Hurricanes (8-3-1) led just 1-0 at halftime, but three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half help put the game away.

Carah Cote scored two goals and had an assist for Hoosac in the win. Drury (2-11-1) goalkeeper Alli Brassard made 11 saves in the loss.

NORTHAMPTON >> McCann Tech goalkeeper Nico Moreno was injured making a save early on Tuesday against Smith Vocational, and his absence hurt the Hornets in a loss.

Smith Vocational scored its first goal of the game when Moreno went down, then the second came on an own goal.

In the second half, Josh Favre scored McCann's lone goal to ensure there would not be a shutout. McCann falls to 4-6-3 with the loss.

Eli Koester, Dana McRae and Jacob Quinn scored for Pioneer Valley.

For St. Joseph (0-9), Ryan Perenick registered 10 saves.

DALTON >> Chad Howes recorded a hat trick, giving the Wahconah boys soccer team its second win of the season.

Howes scored twice in the first half and once in the second half. Coach John Kovacs said the Warriors (2-6) did a good of sending crosses into the box. Howes' second goal was a header off a well-placed cross from Matt Lighten. Lighten had two assists.

Ryan Abel and Nick Donahue added goals for Taconic (2-8-1) in the 72nd and 74th minutes, respectively.

"The first half we put a lot of pressure on them, especially with our crosses," Kovacs said.

WILLIAMS MEN 1, SKIDMORE 1 2OT

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Williams and Skidmore played to a one-goal draw on Tuesday evening in New York.

Williams scored in the first half through Malcolm Singleton, who scored on a throw in by Malcolm Moutenot. The 1-0 advantage held through halftime.

But in the second half, Skidmore leveled things up when Kevin Santos scored in the 66th minute.

The game was not filled with a ton of chances. While Williams outshot Skidmore 14-10, the Ephs (6-2-2) only put three shots on frame, two of which were stopped by Derrick Yam. Skidmore, meanwhile, put four shots on frame and forced three saves out of Williams 'keeper Christian Alcorn.
