Berkshire County: Two book awards announced by Berkshire Elms Alumni

The Berkshire County Chapter of The College of Our Lady of The Elms has announced its annual Book Award for the 2014-15 academic year.

Current Berkshire County freshman, sophomores and juniors as well as continuing education students enrolled in Elms off campus nursing and social work programs located on Berkshire County sites were eligible to apply. The award of $500 each is totally funded by Berkshire Alumni. Recipients are Lyndsey A. Turner of Lanesborough and Kelan R. O’Brien of Pittsfield.

Turner, a social work major with a sociology minor, is a Berkshire Community College transfer student and the mother of two, set to graduate in 2015. She carries a GPA of 4.0 and plans to continue on to a graduate program concentrating on children and families.

O’Brien is a member of the freshman class and a double major in elementary education and history. Having earned Advanced Placement credits in high school and taking extra courses at the Elms, he is on track to graduate a semester ahead of his 2017 class. O’Brien carries a 3.94 GPA.
