Berridge heads WAM Theatre board
PITTSFIELD -- Ashley Berridge has been named board president of Women’s Action Movement (WAM) Theatre. She replaces Nick Webb who had served as the board’s president since the theatre’s inception in 2009.
Berridge is an event manager who specializes in nonprofit and fundraising events.
She currently serves as dir ector of special events and conference planning at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
She is also manages the college’s capital campaign and alumni magazine.
Prior to MCLA, Berridge worked in development and events as the manager of individual support at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. She has also worked as an arts manager for Parsons Dance Company, Nashville Opera, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Nashville Sym phony and Nashville Cham ber Orchestra.
In 2000, she co-founded the New York City-based theatre company, Little Artistic Val ue, and served as founding managing director. Berridge holds a degree in dance management from Oklahoma City University. She had a career as a professional dancer be fore entering the field of arts administration and event management.
WAM’s artistic director Kristen van Ginhoven will conduct a workshop on techniques she learned while at tending the Stratford Shakes peare Festival of Can a da on Sunday, July 22 at Eleven in Great Barrington.
The workshop takes place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $49.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward WAM’s fall world premiere production of "The Old Mezzo" by Susan Dworkin.
