Bits and Bites: Celebrate fall at harvest dinner, Oktoberfest


Shaker Village dinner

Hancock Shaker Village will host a harvest dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.

From the farm at the village to your fork, the harvest supper is an inspired four-course dinners created and served by Chef Michael Roller and the staff of Savory Harvest Catering. Dinner is paired with tastings of wine, ale, cider and spirits crafted in the Berkshires, with guided narration by spirit expert John Kelly and his staff. Reserve your seat at the table and enjoy artisanal cheeses with a Big Elm Ale, or heirloom bisque with a Johnny Mash Cider. Pair your entrée with a wine from Balderdash Cellars, and enjoy dessert along with a Berkshire Mountain Spirit.

The evening will begin with a specialty tour of the historic village at 4 p.m. Dinner service begins at 5 p.m.

Oktoberfest celebration

Spirited will hold its annual Oktoberfest Tent event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the store, 444 Pittsfield Road, Lenox, Mass.

Taste extensive selections of craft beers, ciders and seasonal specialties, plus, delicious eats from Jeremy Stanton's new Campfire Grill, raffles and prizes.

Pie contest

The Anything Goes People's Choice Pie Contest will be held beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Dewey Hall, Main Street, Sheffield.

There will be youth and adult categories, with prizes sponsored by King Arthur Flour, and a silent pie auction.
