Bits & Bites: Public dinners, honey tasting on tap this week
The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation will host a honey-tasting event with Russ Wilson of Bees Across Massachusetts at 4 p.m. Saturday at WRLF headquarters at 671 Cold Spring Road, Williamstown. Sample honeys from seasonal and regional sources and honey-inspired treats.
The $15 pre-registration includes the tasting and a pound of Sheep Hill honey to take home. Walk-ins are $5 for the tasting only. Register by Oct. 18 at email@example.com or 413-458-2494.
Proceeds from the event to be donated by Bees Across Massachusetts to the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation.
POWNAL TURKEY SUPPER
The Pownal United Methodist Church will serve its annual turkey supper on Thursday. The family-style dinner begins at 5 p.m. with continuous serving.
The menu includes roast turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, winter squash, cranberry sauce, rolls, coffee, tea and lemonade, and apple, pumpkin, mince, or raspberry pie with cheese.
Tickets available at the door; $12 for adults, $6 for children 4 to 10 years old, and free for children 3 years and younger. Take-out available at south side entrance. Information: 802-823-7769.
BOY SCOUT BENEFIT DINNER
Sheffield Boy Scout Troop 28 will host a roast beef dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, Route 7, Sheffield.
Tickets are available at the door or from a Scout; adults, $12; children 4 to 12, $6; family, $35 Take out will be available.
TURKEY HARVEST SUPPER
A Fall Harvest Supper will be held Saturday at the Second Congregational Church, Route 43 (Hancock Road), Williamstown. There will be one seating at 5:30 p.m.; reservations are required.
The menu will include turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, winter squash, Harvard beets, coleslaw, rolls, homemade apple and pumpkin pie, punch and coffee.
The cost is: Adults, $12; children younger than 12, $5; pre-schoolers, free. For reservations, call 413-458-4947.
North Adams Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will host its annual spaghetti supper at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26. Those wishing to attend are asked to reserve a seat by Oct. 23; 413-662-4403
The dinner is free, but seating is limited. Dinner will include homemade meatballs, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Guests can enter a raffle to win prizes and take a tour of the newly remodeled community.
North Adams Commons is at 175 Franklin St., North Adams. Parking is available. Enter through either the main entrance on Franklin Street or the Wells Avenue Street entrance.
