Boston drummer Jeff Neal isn’t quitting day job as teacher

WINDHAM, Maine (AP) -- The drummer for the rock band Boston isn’t quitting his day job as a teacher.

Jeff Neal is a social studies teacher at Windham High School. But on his summer break, he’s playing the drums -- a gig he’s enjoyed since 2002.

Neal tells WGME-TV that he started pounding on the drums in middle school. He was discovered by the founder of Boston while at Sunday River in 2002.

He says he’s been living the dream since 2002 when he joined the band, which played Wednesday at the Bangor Waterfront Pavilion and Thursday at Meadowbrook in Gilford, New Hampshire. But he isn’t giving up teaching. He says music is his passion and teaching is his profession.
