Boston man charged with rape at Keith Urban concert
MANSFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- Police say they’re investigating a possible sexual assault at a weekend Keith Urban concert in Massachusetts at which dozens of people were treated for excess drinking.
Police arrested Boston resident Sean Murphy after concertgoers said Saturday night they saw a possible rape on the lawn at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield. Bystanders captured the scene on cellphone cameras.
The Attleboro Sun-Chronicle reports police said a woman at the concert asked Murphy’s accuser if she consented and she said no. Police arrested Murphy at the event, which 18,000 people attended.
Murphy says the encounter was consensual. He has pleaded not guilty to a rape charge.
Investigators are reviewing photos and videos and want to speak with other witnesses.
Urban has no comment and is referring all inquiries to local authorities.
