PITTSFIELD -- Taconic got a pair of quick goals and extended that lead in a 4-1 win over St. Joseph’s on Tuesday.

"It’s always big when you score early," said Taconic coach Mark Wasnewsky. "In our first game, we didn’t score, so it was good to get that monkey off our backs."

WESTFIELD -- The Hornets had chances in the first half, but could convert only one. It was much different in the second half, though, as they took advantage of defensive breakdowns en route to a four-goal second half and a 5-2 win over St. Mary’s.

Tyler Rivard recorded the team’s lone goal of the first half, which was the senior’s first career goal. He had subbed in for starting forward Chad Raimer and took advantage of his time on the field.

"We have some good passers on the team, but she’s really hard to stop one-on-one," said Hornets coach Mike Dowling.
