Bravo LLC buys Berkshire Hills Country Inn for $720,000
WILLIAMSTOWN — A man who has owned lodging establishments in two other states and the Virgin Islands recently purchased the Berkshire Hills Country Inn at 1146 Cold Spring Road.
Bravo LLC, managed by Ronald J. Smith and Natalia M. Villegas, purchased the 21-unit property for $720,000 from Jill A. Ryder, according to documents on file at the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds.
The sale was negotiated by Wason Associates Hospitality Real Estate Brokerage Group of Portsmouth, N.H., which was also involved in the recent $2.1 million sale of the 81-room Days Inn in Sturbridge.
Originally from New York, Smith said he has owned lodging establishments in Florida, New Mexico and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands beginning in 1987. He moved to the Berkshires from Florida.
"The area was very nice," said Smith, when asked why he decided to buy a property in the Berkshires. "It's just a nice size for us, and everything fell into place."
Smith, his wife and his sister, the inn's three employees, are currently renovating the structure, which is situated on two acres of land. Besides the guest rooms, the Berkshire Hills Country Inn includes a three-bedroom, two-bath owner/property manager residence.
The improvements include new carpeting, new bedspreads and drapes, and new 40-inch television sets in the guest rooms.
The inn's pool and deck area are being renovated "completely from top to bottom," Smith said.
Smith eventually plans on hiring staff for the Berkshire Country Inn.
"I'd like it to look like a nice comfortable place for people to stay when they're traveling," Smith said, "kind of homey."
