Brockton police say 1 killed, several in crash

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) -- Police say a Brockton woman has been killed and several people injured in a crash involving several vehicles in Brockton.

The Brockton Enterprise reports ( one of the drivers said her minivan was struck by a car being pursued by police.

Caitlin Luther of Bridgewater tells the newspaper she was stopped at a red light at Quincy and Centre streets late Friday afternoon when she saw the car coming from the opposite direction, pursued by police. Luther and her daughter were shaken up but refused medical attention at the scene.

Fire Department Capt. Charles Davis tells the Enterprise eight people were taken to Brockton hospitals.

At least half a dozen vehicles were involved in the crash, which backed up rush hour traffic in all directions.
