BTG slates "Beauty and the Beast" auditions

PITTSFIELD >> Berkshire Theatre Group is scheduling auditions for actors and musicians for its 11th Annual Community Theatre Production, "Beauty and the Beast," with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton.

Travis G. Daly is directing, with music direction by Mark Gionfriddo and choreography by Kathy Jo Grover.

Auditions, by appointment only, are scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on April 13 at The Colonial Theatre, 111 South St.

Performances are Aug. 11 through 19 at the Colonial. Rehearsals begin in June.

Audition appointments can be made by phoning (413) 448-8084 x23.

Adults should be prepared to sing only 16 bars of a song and bring the accompanying sheet music that is in the key in which they prefer to sing. Students should be ready to learn songs from "Beauty and the Beast." Callbacks will take place as needed. If you already auditioned for this production, you do not have to audition again.

The following instrumentalists are needed: flute, piccolo, clarinet, English horn, oboe, bass clarinet, trumpet, French horn, violin, cello, bass, and percussion. Auditionees should prepare a short passage of music of their own choice that best presents their level of performance.
