Business Briefs: Adams man named regional winner of electrician of the year contest

Local electrician regional award winner of contest

John Levesque of Adams has been named the Northeast Regional winner of the Klein Tools Electrician of the Year contest.

A licensed journeyman and master electrician for 37 years, Levesque owns an electrical contracting business in Adams, and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and his church.

He was selected from hundreds of applicants because of his professional achievement, safety excellence and community dedication

Levesque is one of six regional winners in Klein's contest, and as such is eligible for the Electrician of the Year Award, which will be announced on Oct. 8. The winner receives $2,500 a year in free Klein Tools for 10 years.

BerkshireWorks holding annual job fair Sept. 21

The BerkshireWorks Career Center in collaboration with Berkshire Community College will hold its annual job fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The job fair is a free event for employers and job seekers to meet and greet and hopefully arrange for onsite interviews. Sixty vendors, including employers and educational institutions, will be in attendance.

The topics at BerkshireWorks Job Club meetings in both Pittsfield and North Adams on Monday, Sept. 12 will be about the career fair.

Attorney General's Office addressing workers' rights

The Massachusetts Attorney General's Office in partnership with the Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority will host a "Community Action Hours" forum on Wednesday, Sept. 21 to provide information on workers' rights.

The session will take place from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. at the Berkshire Athenaeum, 1 Wendell Ave. Registration for organizations and individuals begins at 5:45 p.m.

A brief training on workers' rights in Massachusetts will begin at 6:15 p.m. followed by a question and answer session. The AGO's staff will also take complaints at that time.

The forum is free and open to the public. RSVP is required at Rodrigo Plaza, 617 963-2229.
