Age Friendly Berkshires honored by DPH

Age Friendly Berkshires has been named the 2016 recipient of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Peter R. Lee Health Communities Award.

The award is named for the late Peter Lee, who was the director of the Massachusetts Partnership for Healthy Communities and Health Resources in Action. It honors a coalition/partnership for their collaborative work to create healthier and more equitable communities.

Twelve local farms receive farm awards from Big Y

Twelve area farms are among the 47 farms that each received $2,500 from the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation and Big Y Foods to make physical infrastructure improvements to their facilities. This is the second year the Local Farmer Awards have been presented.

The Berkshire area farms that received funding are: Caretaker Farm in Williamstown; Climbing Tree Farm in New Lebanon, N.Y.; Equinox Farm in Sheffield; Grace Hill Farm in Cummington; Hosta Hill in Housatonic; and Jennings Farm in New Ashford.

Also receiving funding were: Mill River Farm in Great Barrington; Moon in the Pond Farm in Sheffield; MX Morningstar Farm in Copake, N.Y; New Leaf Farm in New Lebanon, N.Y.; North Plain Farm in Great Barrington; and Woven Roots Farm in Tyringham.

Sabic honored by American Chemistry Council

Sabic has been named 2016 Responsible Care Company of the Year by the American Chemistry Council in recognition of its superior environmental, health, safety and security (EHSS) performance.

The Responsible Care Company of the Year Award is the ACC's premier honor.
