Attorney to speak at rental association meeting

Attorney Joshua C. Hochberg of Pittsfield will speak when the Rental Housing Association of Berkshire County holds it monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Zucchini's Restaurant.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. An optional dinner for $22 will take place at 6:30 p.m.

RHABC is an organization beneficial to all landlords, whether they have single rental or multiple properties. Anyone interested in attending the meeting or in joining RHABC should call 413 499-1330.

Haddad Hyundai supporting the Jimmy Fund Sept. 25

Haddad Hyundai will raise funds for the Jimmy Fund to support lifesaving adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute on Sunday, Sept. 25.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, which also takes place that day. This is the 14th consecutive year that Hyundai has been the presenting sponsor.

SVMC earns four stars from new Medicare rating system

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center has earned four out of a possible five stars under Medicare's new star rating system.

The system evaluates 64 measures of safety and performance, including death rates, readmissions, safety indicators and patient satisfaction scores, to assign a star rating to each hospital.

The aim is to provide more transparency to healthcare consumers by allowing them to compare hospitals.
