Average state gas price reaches $2 mark

State gas prices have risen for the sixth straight week and have hit the $2 mark for the first time since December, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA's survey of state gas prices on Monday found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2 a gallon, two cents higher than last week and 30 cents more than five weeks ago.

The current state price is four cents below the national average for regular unleaded. At this time last year, the state's average gas price was $2.34.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey is 30 cents, from $1.89 to $2.19 per gallon.

The average price for midgrade unleaded is $2.25 per gallon.

ALDI holding hiring event in Albany on Thursday

The ALDI grocery store chain will be holding a hiring event for all of its New York locations on Thursday at the Albany Marriot Hotel in Albany, N.Y.

In total, the company is looking to fill 140 positions in five Northeast states, including Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut.

The hours for Thursday's event are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Albany Marriot is located at 189 Wolf Road. Eligible applicants must be 18 years or older, and have a high school diploma or GED. Info: www.aldi.us.
