Beacon temporarily dropping surcharge on 3D films

In celebration of its sixth anniversary, the Beacon Cinema is eliminating the $3 surcharge on all 3D films, beginning with The Peanuts Movie on Friday, Nov. 6.

The surcharge will remain uncollected through Monday, Nov. 30, a period that includes Thanksgiving weekend and the opening of the film The Good Dinosaur.

Beacon prices from Nov. 6-30 will be: Adult evening (ages 13-61) $10; adult matinee: $8 (before 5 p.m.). Child (12 and under) $7.50 anytime; senior (62 and over) $7.50 anytime. Super Tuesday: $6 all day.

The $23 million Beacon Cinema on North Street opened on Nov. 18, 2009. The cinema complex has six theaters that contain stadium seating.

BCC President to speak at Zonta Club meeting

Berkshire Community College President Ellen Kennedy will speak when the Zonta Club of Berkshire County meets on Monday, Nov. 9 at Mazzeo's Ristorante, 1015 South St.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. It will include a brief networking session, a business meeting, the speaker, then dinner.

Zonta International is a worldwide service organization working to advance the status of women. Guests are welcome at all meetings, but reservations are required for dinner.
