Berkshire Bank posts strong second quarter earnings

Berkshire Bank's holding company, Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc., recorded earnings of 52 cents per share during the second quarter compared to 35 cents over the same time period last year.

Core earnings per share, or the income generated from daily business operations, remained at 54 cents during the second quarter, but are up from 51 cents recorded during the second quarter of 2015.

Total loan growth was 5 percent during the second quarter, with commercial loans increasing by 4 percent. Other second quarter highlights include a 3.31 percent net interest margin, and a 58.7 percent efficiency ratio.

Buono joins Anteris as chief information officer

Christopher Buono has joined Anteris Solutions Inc. as chief information officer, the Lenox company has announced. As CIO, Buono also becomes a member of the firm's executive team.

Buono has worked in the information-technology field for more than 20 years, including 12 in leadership roles.

He holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems from the University at Albany Business School and attended the MBA program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Lally School of Management.
