Berkshire Co-op Market hires new general manager

Following an extensive national search, Daniel Esko has been appointed the new general manager of the Berkshire Co-op Market by the co-op's board of directors. He will assume his new position on Feb. 1.

Esko spent 10 years the Berkshire Co-op Market as grocery & wellness manager and operations manager before joining Shire City Herbals of Pittsfield as operations manager in 2014.

While at the co-op, Esko also provided support, training and consulting services for a number of other co-ops.

Prior to the co-op, Esko worked at the Kushi Institute Store in Becket and at Whole Foods in Boston.

Bridge Street corridor design open house

The town of Great Barrington will host a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 6 so the public can view and have input on improvement plans for the Bridge Street corridor.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Fire Station at 37 State Road.

The town recently received a $2.1 million MassWorks grant to make improvements to that area, which include street, sidewalk and utility improvements.

Construction on the first part of the project between Main and School streets will begin this spring.


Third doctor joins SVMC Pownal campus

Dr. Barbara Raskin has joined Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's Pownal campus, which serves patients in Southwestern Vermont and North Berkshire.

A member of SVMC's staff since 1985, Raskin joined doctors Robin Tarnas and Michael Welther at the Pownal campus, which opened on Oct. 19 near the state line.
