AIM Business Confidence Index rises in January
The Associated Industries of Massachusetts Business Confidence Index rose 0.5 points in January to 55.8 to begin 2016 above the 50 mark that denotes a positive economic outlook.
The increase was driven by a 1.8 point surge in the index measuring employer attitudes about Massachusetts. However, confidence remained lower than it was in January 2015.
The fact that employer confidence remained strong despite a 9 percent drop in the S&P 500 Index shows the underlying strength of the state's economy, said AIM spokesman Raymond G. Torto.
