Bidding for Berkshire Dream Auction begins Monday

The bidding for the 2016 Berkshire Dream Auction begins at 8 a.m. on Monday and will continue through 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.

Over 200 items are under consideration including spa treatments, dinners at Berkshire eateries, overnight stays at local lodging establishments, and tickets to attractions and performances.

More items will be added as the auction continues.

IEEE STEM Research Challenge presentations

The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Berkshire Section's Life Affinity Group will hold the group's 2016 STEM Research Challenge at a dinner meeting on Wednesday, May 18.

The event takes place at Zucchini's Restaurant, 1331 North St. Cocktails take place at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. Presentations by the Research Challenge winners will take place after dinner.

The cost for IEEE members and one guest is $11, $12, 13 or $15 per person. The price for non-members is $22, $24, $26 or $30 per person. Those who do not eat dinner will be admitted free.

LENOX
Lenox restaurants diverting food waste to Dalton farm

Eight Lenox restaurants are diverting their food waste scraps to a local farm for composting, according to the Center for EcoTechnology in Pittsfield.

The scraps are hauled away by Empire Zero Waster and delivered to Holiday Brook Farm in Dalton. The diversion was part of a Lenox Environmental Committee effort to encourage composting.
