BMC cited for joint replacement, pulmonary

Berkshire Medical Center has been recognized for excellence in joint replacement and pulmonary care by Healthgrade, the leading national online resource helping consumers find the right doctor, hospital and care.

For the second straight year, BMC has received the Healthgrade Joint Replacement Excellence Awards, and is ranked among Healthgrade America's 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement.

BMC has also received the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award for the eighth straight year. In addition, the hospital has achieved numerous five-star ranking for the treatment of illnesses and surgical procedures.

MassDOT holding Mass Pike repair and tolls public meeting

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on the state of repair and other capital needs for the western section of the Massachusetts Turnpike on Thursday, Jan. 28.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at District 1 Headquarters, 270 Main St. Public input is being solicited for inclusion in the MassDOT's Triennial Review.

Similar meetings are scheduled to take place in Springfield on Jan. 19 and in Framingham on Jan. 26.

In case of inclement weather, cancellation announcements will be posted on the Internet at www.massdot.state.ma.us/Highway/.

Monopoly tournament to benefit Kids' Place on Feb. 25

Raymond James & Associates of Pittsfield will hold a monopoly tournament to benefit Berkshire County Kids' Place on Feb. 25. All proceeds benefit the Kids' Place.
