Carr Hardware in running for small business award
Pittsfield-based Carr Hardware and Supply Co. has been voted into the quarterfinal round in the competition for the Independent Small Business of the Year Award, which is known as the Indie.
Carr is one of 25 small businesses that remain in the competition, which started with 315 independently-owned retailers.
Voting for the next round began at 10 a.m. on Monday. To vote for Carr Hardware, go to www.IndieBizAward.com.
Lenox resident joins board of Adams Community Bank
Timothy C. Doherty of Lenox has joined the Board of Trustees of Adams Community Bank, the financial institution has announced.
A partner in the Doherty & Stuart CPA firm in Lenox, Doherty has been a practicing CPA for over 40 years.
He is currently chairman of the board of Berkshire Health Systems, where he has been a member for 20 years. Doherty also served on the board of directors of the Lenox National Bank for 30 years.
Upcoming Goodwill job training workshops
Goodwill's Retail Associate training program starts on Monday, Nov. 30 at the Goodwill Maker Space Training, 158 Tyler St. Classes run Mondays through Thursdays for 21/2 weeks.
The Soft Skills Workshop begin on Friday, Dec. 4. The six-week program takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays at Head Start in Pittsfield.
Business 101: Custodial Certification Training will be offered at the Spot-On-Cleaning class at the Pittsfield Training Center at 158 Tyler St. beginning on Monday, Dec. 7.
