Casino to be honored at Labor Awards Breakfast Oct. 30

Christine Casino of IBEW Local 2324 has been named 2016 Labor Person of the Year by the Berkshire Central Labor Council, and will be honored at the organization's annual Labor Awards Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 30 at the ITAM Lodge on Waubeek Road. The event begins at 9 a.m.

A career long union member, Casino's most recent service occurred during the spring labor dispute with Verizon when she not only organized picket line activity, but ensured that a food pantry was organized, stocked and staffed to help union members. She is an active member and present officer in the Telephone Pioneers, a charity run by phone company workers.

RHABC monthly meeting takes place at Zucchini's tonight

Jamie Overby, a multi-family energy specialist for the Center for EcoTechnology in Northampton, will speak when the Rental Housing Association of Berkshire County holds its monthly meeting tonight at Zucchini's Restaurant.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. An optional dinner for $22 will be held at 6:30.

Overby will speak on The Mass Save Multi-Family and Residential Energy Programs.

RHABC is an organization beneficial to all landlords.
