Low state gas prices for Thanksgiving week travel

Massachusetts gas prices dropped one cent from last week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA's survey of state gas prices Monday found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.07 a gallon, the same as the national average. A year ago at this time the state's average price was 80 cents higher at $2.87.

"With crude oil prices hovering at around $41 a barrel, Americans will be enjoying the lowest gas prices since 2008 as they travel this holiday week," said AAA Northeast spokeswoman Mary Maguire.

Nuclea receives accreditation from pathologists' committee

The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists has awarded accreditation to Nuclea Biotechnologies, Inc. based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP's Accreditation Programs.

Nuclea's laboratory in Pittsfield is one of more than 7,700 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government's own inspection program.

MountainOne supports affordable housing community

MountainOne Bank has given $15,000 to Higher Ground of Williamstown to support community spaces and outdoor landscaping at the new Highland Woods affordable housing development.

A nonprofit, Higher Ground was formed in November 2011 to help local residents of The Spruces Mobile Home Park who were affected by the flooding from Tropical Storm Irene.

It is anticipated that Higher Ground will be ready for occupancy in early 2016. The community is being built next to Proprietor's Field.
