Neurosurgeon joins Berkshire Health Systems, BMC

Dr. Joseph Emrich, a board certified and fellowship trained neurosurgeon, has joined the medical staff of Berkshire Medical Center and the physician staff of Neurosurgery Professional Services of BMC.

Emrich most recently served as director of functional neurosurgery at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilke Barre, Pa. He also spent 20 years as a neurosurgeon at Albany, N.Y., Medical Center.

He received his medical degree from McGill University and completed his residency in neurosurgery at Montreal Neurological Hospital, McGill University. Emrich was fellowship trained in neuro-oncology and brain tumor imaging at the Montreal Neurological Institute, which is also affiliated with McGill University.

MLSC Tax Incentive Program begins next round of funding

The next application period for the Massachusetts Life Science Center's Job Creation Tax Incentive Program is now open. Applications can be submitted online through the center's website. The deadline is noon on Friday, Feb. 25.

The MLSC offers tax incentives to encourage the growth of companies engaged in life sciences research and development, commercialization and manufacturing in Massachusetts.

GREAT BARRINGTON
Hosta Hill receives state farm grant

Hosta Hill in Great Barrington has received a $10,000 matching state grant for grain storage through a program that helps beginning farmers grow or improve their farm operations.

The funding was granted through the Department of Agricultural Resources' (DAR) Matching Enterprise Grants for Agriculture Program.
