PPD Officers Union fundraising campaign begins on Sunday
The Pittsfield Police Department Officers Union IBPO Local 447 will begin conducting its fall fundraising campaign on Sunday evening.
The union is attempting to raise funds to contribute to the community as it has in the past. Funds raised have supported community organizations, youth sports, high school arts and music programs and Special Olympics events.
Residents should be aware that employees from the fundraising company, TCI America Inc., will be contacting businesses and residents for donations.
Those who donate will receive complimentary tickets to a comedy show featuring Boston-area comedians at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
Open house to discuss TDI plans taking place Monday
MassDevelopment, the Tyler Street Business Group and the city of Pittsfield will hold an open house on Monday to solicit public input on plans for the Tyler Street Transformative Development Initiative.
The event will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at the Berkshire Dream Center, 475 Tyler St. Members of the public will be able to review and comment on a draft plan for that area.
TDI fellow Amewusika "Sika" Sedzro and Elan Planning and Design Principal Lisa Nagle will hold presentations on the emerging plan at 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday.

Guess factory store begins operation at Premium Outlets
Apparel retailer Guess will officially open a factory store at the Lee Premium Outlets today.
A grand opening event will take place at the store, which is located on Main St., from 1 to 5 p.m.
