Remodeled Walmart holding grand opening ceremony

Pittsfield's newly remodeled Walmart at 555 Hubbard Ave. will hold a grand opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

A brief ribbon cutting ceremony will take place followed by family activities and free food samples while supplies last.

The remodeled store has an expanded electronics department, six new self check-outs, and new paint, flooring and signs throughout the store. It also includes a refreshed pharmacy.

Berkshire County Arc to host Buddy Walk on Sept. 24

Berkshire County Arc's Down Syndrome Family Group will host the 10th annual Buddy Walk of the Berkshires on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The goal of the walk, which is affiliated with the National Down syndrome Society, is promote awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to fundraise for those with Down syndrome who reside in Berkshire County.

The event begins with registration from 10-11 a.m. at Craneville Elementary School in Dalton. Registration is free.

Networking event for female entrepreneurs on Sept. 7

FemCity Berkshires, a professional networking and business support group for female entrepreneurs in the Berkshires and surrounding areas, will host a networking tea on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Healing Rhythms, 55 Pittsfield Road. The hours are 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The event is $5 for members and $9 for non-members.
