Schiff managing director at October Mountain

Gary M. Schiff has been appointed managing director of October Mountain Financial Advisors, which provides client-centered investment management, financial planning and trust administration services.

Schiff most recently served as vice president, senior investment advisor with the Private Client Group at TD Wealth in Pittsfield from 2011-16. Prior to his position with TD Wealth, Schiff joined Bank of Boston's Berkshire Region's senior management team in 1995 and held several senior positions through successive mergers leading to TD's current ownership.

A graduate of Middlebury College, Schiff holds a masters degree from Harvard University and has attended the Cannon Financial Institute Trust School. He also holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations.

Cultural organizations receive Shubert grants

Five Berkshire County cultural organizations have received 2015 grants from the New York City-based Shubert Foundation, which annually provides funding to cultural entities nationwide.

This year's Berkshire recipients are Barrington Stage Company, $70,000; Berkshire Theatre Group, $40,000; Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, $65,000; Shakespeare & Co., $35,000; and Williamstown Theatre Festival, $10,000.

The Shubert Foundation was established in 1945 by Lee and J.J. Shubert in memory of their brother, Sam. It is the sole shareholder of The Shubert Organization Inc., which owns 21 theatres, including 17 on Broadway.

AHEC offering in-home training for caregivers

Berkshire AHEC is offering "In-Home Care Training for Caregivers", to train individuals who provide care to populations ages 60 and over in Berkshire County,

The six-hour training session is free and is open to anyone in Berkshire County who provides care to populations ages 60 and over.

The training will take place on June 14 and 21 at HomeInstead Senior Care, 66 Wendell Avenue. The hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days.
