State, Berkshire single-family home sales drop in July
The sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts dropped 12.5 percent in July, the first monthly decrease this year, according to the Warren Group of Boston, which tracks state real estate transactions.
In the Berkshires, single-family home sales dropped less than a percentage point in July as 140 were sold compared to 141 in July 2015. For the year, single-family home sales in the Berkshires are up 20.6 percent, from 642 at this time last year to 774.
Condominium sales also dropped in the Berkshires last month as 9 were sold compared to 19 in July 2015, a decrease of 52.6 percent. Year-to-date, condo sales in the Berkshires are down 13.5 percent.
Greylock donates $75,000 to Boys & Girls Club program
The Pittsfield Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires has received a $75,000 donation from the Greylock Federal Credit Union to fund its Triple Play and Meals program.
The donation will be received in $25,000 increments over three years.
Triple Play is a national health and wellness program incorporating three parts — mind, body and soul. The meals component provide nutritious dinners in a positive and supportive environment five days a week at the club's "LightHouse Cafe." State liquor store opening
The Vermont Department of Liquor Control on Friday will hold the grand opening of its new liquor store located inside of Dwyer's State Line Beer & Wine.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will occur at 10 a.m. Thursday. Agency stores sell products from Vermont.
