The following area residents recently participated in White Coat Ceremonies at their respective colleges.

Matthew Adamo of Pittsfield received his white coat at the White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2017 at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tenn., on Sept. 21.

Adamo is a first-year osteopathic medical student at LMU-DCOM. Prior to enrolling at LMU-DCOM, Adamo attended University of Texas at Austin.

Andrew Connor, son of Philip Connor and Mary Jo Erickson Connor of Becket, a first year student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, participated in the college’s annual White Coat Ceremony on Oct. 10.

The White Coat Ceremony is a special ceremony designed to mark a student’s entrance into medical school. During the ceremony, each medical student is presented and "robed" with his or her short white laboratory coat, formalizing and welcoming the student’s entrance into the study of medicine.
