Canaan, N.Y.: Documentary on fracking to be screened

Chatham Neighbors For Peace is sponsoring the showing of "Gasland Part II" at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Town Hall, 1647 County Route 5 just south of the blinking light on Route 295.

In this follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film "Gasland," filmmaker Josh Fox uses his dark humor to take a deeper, broader look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring on a global level.

A talk-back will follow the film, moderated by climate change activist Dr. Bart Schoenfeld, a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility and Citizens Climate Lobby.

All are welcome. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Information: (518) 542-4194.
