Cases continued in 'melee'

PITTSFIELD -- Two teens allegedly involved in a melee at the end of May's Third Thurs day had their cases continued.

Shatei Logan, 18, of Hamlin Street, and Kamaar Taliaferro, 18, of Bartlett Avenue, appeared briefly before Judge Paul M. Vrabel in Central Berkshire District Court on Tuesday with their attorneys. Further pre-trial hearings have been scheduled for August.

Logan, represented by John A. Bernardo, has pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Taliaferro is represented by Timothy J. Shugrue. Taliaferro has pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.

Two other teens who were charged in the melee have already had their cases decided and paid fines.

Police said ap proximately 100 people were involved in the melee, which began on the corner of North and Melville streets and continued down Melville, near the Boys & Girls Club of Pittsfield. No one was seriously hurt.
