NORTH ADAMS -- Charges are pending for a local man following an accident on the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) late Tuesday night, according to city police.

Paul P. Dugal, Jr., 52, of Florida, was traveling eastbound on Route 2 near the Western Summit when his 2000 Volvo S40 went off of the road, hit a guard rail and went into a ditch, Sgt. James Burdick said on Wednesday.

A police blotter narrative states a caller reported at 11:12 p.m. that the vehicle was "driving all over the road and crashed."

The vehicle was totaled and had to be towed from the scene, Burdick said. Dugal was taken to and released from the Berkshire Medical Center Satellite Office in North Adams for his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, Burdick said.

North Adams Fire Department and North Adams Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.
