Cheshire: Library open house will highlight new services

Friday January 25, 2013

The Cheshire Library will hold an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, to introduce the community to several new services now available through its online network. Cheshire went fully online in the C/WMARS system recently.

With the new system, the library catalog is online and patrons can check their records, renew items or make requests, all from their home computers. The Cheshire Library card also gives holders access to numerous databases and downloadable audio and e-books.

At the open house, personnel will demonstrate how to use the new services. Residents may sign up for cards, and all those attending will receive a book bag and pen. Light refreshments will be served.

In addition, the library now has a facebook page and a website. It recently received a Cultural Council Grant that will subsidize preschool story times in the spring and fall.
