Choirs to remember Martin Luther King Jr. in song

Posted

LENOX -- How would it have felt to sit quietly at Martin Luther King Jr.'s funeral -- to have heard him speak so short a time before?

On Sunday, Gail Street, who was present at Dr. King's funeral, will offer a recollection at an afternoon to honor him.

Speakers will remember Dr. King in poems and stories -- and in song. The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present a Martin Luther King weekend Psalms and Spirituals open sing at Trinity Church, at 88 Walker St., on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the MCLA Allegrettos and the Taconic High School Choir.

The choirs will lead a spiritual sing-along and perform works by Alice Parker and Moses Hogan and arrangements of familiar spirituals such as "Deep River," "Ride up in the Chariot," and "Wade in the Water."

Admission is free. For more information, call (518) 791-0185 or visit www.cantilenachoir.org.
