PITTSFIELD — The announcement that The Lantern is shutting its doors didn't stop "The Dinner Dames" from holding their annual Christmas party there. They just bumped it up a few months.
The Dinner Dames, a group of local women with the average age of 73, have been meeting for lunch every month for the past 40 years.
When the ladies got word their official Christmas lunch spot is closing, they turned out for one last celebration there. On Thursday, the Dames gathered to celebrate their holiday early by eating burgers, singing jingles, and wearing the accumulation of Christmas garb they have gifted to each other over the years.
"We’re very rowdy. We’ll have to find a new place that will put up with us” said Cathi Magi. “One year, Joanne [Belange] danced on the table!”
