Ciccolo status conference rescheduled

SPRINGFIELD — A status conference in the case of Alexander Ciccolo, originally set for May 24, has been rescheduled.

Ciccolo has been held in custody since last July after being accused of formulating a plot to commit a violent attack in support of the Islamic State.

His attorney, David Hoose, filed the motion in U.S. District Court for the continuance of the hearing until June 9, due to a scheduling conflict. Prosecutors did not object to the change, according to court files.

Ciccolo has been charged with illegal weapons possession for accepting a small cache of weapons from an FBI informant and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly stabbing a nurse in the head with a pen during a medical screening during his booking.

More charges may be coming and that matter will possibly be addressed at the upcoming status conference.
