Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has announced that Mary-Ellen Beattie of Clarksburg is the recipient of this year’s Tupelo Award.

The Tupelo Award, a fund of Berkshire Taconic, offers individuals throughout the region an opportunity to deepen and enrich a passion or serious interest through study, travel, research and development of a specific project.

Beattie graduated with a dual degree in studio and art history from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn.

Beattie’s current project involves a post-baccalaureate artist in residence program at Dickinson College for the 2012-2013 school year. During this time, she will audit art classes which will help enrich her passion for art, and create work for her first solo show to take place in March at Dickinson College. She also plans to create her own website.
