College graduates

Justin Wirtes, son of Kristin and Jesse Wirtes of Lanes borough, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt., in May. Also this spring, he was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society. He is a graduate of McCann Technical School, North Adams.

Kurtis Kimball from North Adams graduated from Marl boro (Vt.) College with a bachelor of arts in photography on Sunday, May 13.

Marichal Lynn MacDonald, daughter of Dr. Michael MacDonald and Robin Lenz of Williamstown, graduated from Dickinson College on May 20 with a bachelor of arts in political science. She is a graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School.

Bethany Prince, daughter of John and Charlene Prince of North Adams, graduated sum ma cum laude from Plymouth State University with a bachelor of science in social work and a minor in women’s studies. While at Plymouth, she maintained her four-year presidential scholarship and earned the outstanding junior social work award in 2011. She also earned the outstanding community service award in 2012.

Jordanna Kay Dzierga, daughter of Rosey and Steve Dzierga of Adams, graduated magna cum laude from Johnson & Wales University on May 19. She majored in Hospitality -- Restaurant, Food and Beverage Manage ment. During her senior year, she also began pursuing her master’s degree in business administration. She anticipates graduating in May 2013.

Heather Lynne Peltier, daughter of Gretchen Wells-Vidal and Andrew Vidal of Cheshire, graduated cum laude from Westfield Uni versity on May 19 with a bachelor of arts in political science. A 2009 Hoosac Valley High School graduate, she graduated from Westfield in only three years with a GPA of 3.43. She was accepted to Northeastern University this fall to pursue her master’s degree in public administration.

Jeannette Benham of Hins dale graduated from Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, N.Y., on Saturday, May 26, during the college’s 152nd commencement. Ben ham was awarded a bachelor’s degree.

Rachel Hyman of Hous atonic graduated from Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, N.Y., on Saturday, May 26, during the college’s 152nd commencement. Benham was awarded a bachelor’s degree.

Steven Felix, son of Charles and Gloria Felix of North Adams, graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in music education and performance. He is a 2007 graduate of Drury High School.

Dr. Elan R. Witkowski, a surgical resident at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, received a master’s in public health/epidemiology from Harvard University on May 24. He attended Monument Mount ain High School and Simon’s Rock of Bard College in Great Barrington. He did his undergraduate studies at North eastern University in Boston where he majored in biochemistry. He is the son of Jolene Caresio of Great Barrington and Giora and Linda Mitchell-Witkowski of Pittsfield.
