College roundup: MCLA softball picks up two wins

CLERMONT, FLA. >> The MCLA softball team recorded two victories at Legends Field.

First, the Trailblazers (3-1) defeated Endicott by a score of 7-3 before they beat Lasell, 5-2.

In the victory over Endicott, Rachel Quackenbush (2-0) pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits and allowing one earned run.

MCLA, which jumped out to a 7-0 lead through one inning, was led by Chelsea Coleman as she went 2-for-3 with a run. Katie Berghela and Sierra Bailey each registered two RBI for the Trailblazers.

In the win over Lasell, Katelyn Henault (1-1 got the start and pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs.

Quackenbush pitched three shutout innings in relief, picking up her first save of 2016. She had six strikeouts and no walks over the three frames.

Coleman had three RBI for the Trailblazers while Michaela DiNicola went 2-for-4 with two runs.
