College roundup: Williams men's lacrosse defeats Colby
WILLIAMSTOWN >> Michael Fahey and Tanner MacIvor each scored four goals for Williams as the Ephs defeated Colby College 17-14.
Bryson Gilbert-Bono scored twice and added three assists for the Ephs (7-5, 4-4 NESCAC) while Miles McCarthy registered eight saves.
For Colby (3-9, 0-7), Alex Rutan recorded two goals and four assists.
MCLA, FITCHBURG STATE SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER
NORTH ADAMS >> MCLA and Fitchburg State split a doubleheader when the Trailblazers won game one 1-0 and the Falcons took the second game 3-0.
Rachel Quackenbush pitched an eight-inning complete game in the first contest for MCLA (13-11), striking out nine and walking two while scattering four hits. Michaela DiNicola scored the walk-off run when Fitchburg State committed an error.
In game two, Galen Kerr went the distance for Fitchburg State (10-12), allowing four hits, striking out five and walking none in a shutout.
WILLIAMS SPLITS WITH HAMILTON
CLINTON, N.Y. >> In a doubleheader, Williams won the first game 13-6 while Hamilton took game two 7-3.
Mackenzie Murphy picked up the win in game one for the Ephs (22-7, 5-1 NESCAC), pitching four shutout innings in relief, allowing only two hits. She also went 3 for 4 at the dish with three RBI and two runs scored.
In game two, Phoebe Collins had a multi-hit game for Hamilton (10-16, 3-6).
WILLIAMS, WESLEYAN EACH WIN IN ONCE TWIN BILL
WILLIAMSTOWN >> Williams and Wesleyan split a doubleheader, with the Ephs taking game one 5-2 and Wesleyan winning the second contest 13-6.
In the first game, Tyler Duff went the distance for Williams (8-14, 4-5 NESCAC), scattering four hits and allowing two runs. Kellen Hatheway contributed a home run for the Ephs, tallying three RBI.
Hatheway also had a round-tripper in the second game to go along with three RBI, but Wesleyan (16-7, 3-3) was led by Guy Davidson, who went 4 for 5 with three RBI, three doubles and a triple.
NORTH ADAMS >> Fitchburg State swept MCLA in a doubleheader, winning by scores of 6-1 and 12-0, respectively.
Tommy Parsons pitched a complete game for the Falcons (11-14) in the first contest, striking out seven and walking four while allowing three hits and one run.
Slayter Aubin doubled for the Trailblazers (3-16) in game two of the twin bill.
COLBY 14, WILLIAMS 9
WATERVILLE, MAINE >> Colby took a one-goal lead into halftime and eventually defeated Williams by five on Saturday.
Kendall Smith registered four goals and two assists for Colby (10-2, 6-2 NESCAC).
Emma Tenbarge and Alyssa Maddalone each recorded a hat trick for Williams (4-8, 2-6).
BRIDGEWATER STATE 19, MCLA 4
NORTH ADAMS >> Lauren Geary scored three goals and added three assists for Bridgewater State in its win over MCLA.
Alex King registered five assists for the Bears (7-4, 3-0 MASCAC) to go along with a goal.
Natalie Caney scored four times for MCLA (3-7, 0-3).
