College roundup: Williams men's lacrosse wins home opener, 10-6

WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Williams men's lacrosse team held off Connecticut College to win its home opener, 10-6.

Thomas Fowler scored twice for the Ephs (2-2, 2-1 NESCAC) while Peter Crane and Tanner MacIvor each contributed two assists. Miles McCarthy finished with 12 saves for Williams.

The Ephs jumped out to 4-3 halftime lead and extended that advantage to 9-5 heading into the fourth quarter. Riley Hoffman, Michael Fahey, MacIvor, Greg Plumb and Khary Dennis each scored in the third for Williams.

Ross Thompson recorded a hat trick for Connecticut College (3-2, 0-2 NESCAC).

Williams returns to action on Tuesday when it faces off with Skidmore on the road.

WILLIAMS 10, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 6

NEW LONDON, CONN. >> Williams scored four goals in the second half and held Connecticut College scoreless en route to a road victory.

Anne Rehfuss scored twice and added an assist for the Ephs (2-2, 2-1 NESCAC) while Olivia Polk and Jenna Chodos each contributed two goals.

Williams took its first lead at 4-3 when Polk scored with 16:33 remaining in the first half. After Rehfuss scored, Connecticut College (2-3, 0-2 NESCAC) scored three times to take a 6-5 lead.

Chodos scored with 20 seconds remaining in the half, making it 6-6 heading into the break. In the second frame, Williams received goals from Katie Gallop, Polk, Micaela Dussel and Chodos.

Erin Moran registered a hat trick for Connecticut College.

Williams is back in action on Tuesday against Rochester Institute of Technology at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
