Colleges: Cancilla wins again


RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. - MCLA junior Anthony Cancilla led the charge for the Trailblazers in a time of 28:47 as they ran away to win the Men's 8K in the Second Annual Three Stallion Invitational Hosted by Vermont Tech on Saturday.

MCLA took five of the top ten spots to earn the victory, while Green Mountain College captured three of those top ten positions, including a second place overall for Junior Forrest Teutsch in 29:12.

MCLA took team second in the women's race, led home by sophomore Claire Simmons' fifth place, with Southern Vermont finishing third.

NORTH ADAMS -- The MCLA Volleyball team got win number two on the day after they beat Green Mountain College Eagles in a 3-0 victory. The Trailblazers notched their third straight victory to improve to 3-7.

For MCLA, Sophomore Allie Chang finished with a team high 5 kills on 12 attempts. Trailblazer libero Kelley Bryant finished the match 3 kills 4 aces and 11 digs.

The Trailblazers beat Becker College 3-1 earlier in the day.

Men's Soccer

Salem State 4, MCLA 1

SALEM -- MCLA dropped its first conference game to the Vikings.

The Vikings Eryk Fernandez netted a hat trick in the second half. With 11:36 left in the first half, MCLA's Brian Theriault (Gloucester, MA) scored on a deflection from a shot by Drew Webster for the Trailblazers' lone goal

The Trailblazers Dillon Wager stopped one shot on the day.

Women's Soccer

Salem State 4, MCLA 1

NORTH ADAMS -- MCLA couldn't hold off the Vikings at home.

Keisha Devoe had the lone Trailblazers goal coming in the 73rd minute when she received a through ball from Lindsay Borbolla.

The Vikings outshot the Trailblazers 29-7 on the afternoon.
