Colleges: Williams women's hockey routs Bowdoin

WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Williams women's hockey team picked up a 7-1 win over Bowdoin in NESCAC action on Friday night.

The Ephs used a five-goal second period to put the game to bed after going up 2-0 in the first period.

Williams improves to 6-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the conference with the win.

Chelsey Stevenson scored a goal on the power play and shorthanded for Williams, while Emily Kreuger also added a pair of goals for the Ephs. Talia Simon had two assists.

In goal, Christina Cleroux stopped 17 shots to pick up the win.

Bowdoin's Miranda Bell scored the consolation goal in the third period, while Lan Crofton stopped 14 shots in two periods of work and Sophia Lattanzio stopped 12 shots during her work in the second period.

Both teams will lace up the skates again today for another game at Williams. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Women's College Basketball

AMHERST 80, WILLIAMS 44

WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Williams women's basketball team had a rough start to NESCAC action, falling to Amherst, 80-44, on Friday night.

Amherst took a 24-12 lead after a quarter, then ramped up the pressure with a 13-3 second quarter to take a commanding lead into the break.

Hannah Hackley led three Lord Jeffs players in double figures with a game-high 21 points. Jaimie Renner added 17 for the visitors.

The win drops Williams to 10-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Ephs were led by Amanni Fernandez, who scored 12 points and added five rebounds. Katie Litman had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Ephs return to action on Sunday with a home game against Trinity.
