ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- A 13-year-old girl has died in a house fire in Enfield despite efforts to rescue her from the intense flames.

Shaker Pines Fire Depart ment Chief Charlie Macsata said the body of Hope Hart-Hartnett was found in her bedroom. Her mother, Grace Hart, and the mother’s boyfriend managed to escape the Wednesday night fire.

The girl’s father, Michael Hart, who was visiting his father’s house nearby and saw the flames, tried along with neighbors to rescue her. Hart tells The Hartford Courant his daughter was "the most important thing in my life."

Firefighters were pushed back by heat and heavy smoke. Three firefighters were injured when a deck collapsed. They were treated at Baystate Medical center in Springfield and released.

Authorities said the fire doesn’t appear to be
suspicious.
